Boron deficiency (B)

Boron deficiency will cause short stems, and an overall “bushy” appearance of the plant. Leaves are brittle, and may show rolled-up edges. Younger leaves will be lighter in colour, showing chloroses that will later develop into necroses. Leaves may even die off. If this boron deficiency is not remedied, older leaves will also turn yellow. In tubers, boron deficiency will be visible in brown discolourations of the vascular bundle. The potato’s skin will be darker than usual and will lack stability, often accompanied by a higher incidence of scabs.

Boron deficiency may be treated efficiently by applying EPSO Microtop®. In addition to boron, EPSO Microtop® will also provide magnesium, sulphur and manganese.
