Generally, cattle potassium requirements are met by their basic roughage feed.
However, there may be a deficiency of magnesium, as the magnesium content of farm-grown basic feed may vary strongly, depending on origin and plant composition. Particularly in young, non-variegated grass pastures, magnesium content may be very low. Specifically dairy cows may develop magnesium deficiency after being fed potassium-rich basic feedingstuff. Raised lactation increases magnesium requirements.
Magnesium-rich KaSa Mag may therefore be used as a high-grade magnesium component in the feeding of breeding animals and dairy cows. KaSa Mag contains sulphatic magnesium, which is more easily absorbed than magnesium oxide (MgO) and, in comparison to magnesium chloride (MgCl2), represents less risk of cauterising stomach and intestinal mucosa. KaSa Mag is available with 98% and 49% magnesium. |
