K+S KALI GmbH achieved second place of the „State Award for the Exemplary Employment and Integration of Handicapped Persons“. With this award, the Hessian Ministry for Work, Family and Health rewarded the exemplary performance of the K+S KALI GmbH for the rehabilitation of severely handicapped employees.
The Ministry’s acknowledgement stated: “You show that the practice of social responsibility and economic interests are clearly compatible with each other.” At the award’s presentation in Wiesbaden, Jürgen Banzer, the Hessian Minister for Work, Family and Health said: “Companies offering a fair chance for employment to severely handicapped persons, thereby taking on social responsibility, are role models and an encouragement to all other employers and decision-makers.”
First place was given to Carl Zeiss Sportsoptics GmbH in Wetzlar.
In 2009, the proportion of severely handicapped employees at all German K+S Group locations averaged 7.4 %. This places K+S way above the national average. In close cooperation with the competent authorities and with the associations representing handicapped citizens, K+S creates workplaces suitable for severely handicapped persons, and takes additional measures to ensure their integration.
