In May 2012, the Institute of Applied Plant Nutrition (IAPN), jointly run by K+S KALI GmbH and the University of Göttingen, will host the first international symposium on the role of magnesium in plant production, in the quality of food and in human health. The symposium is being held in cooperation with the Sabanci University Istanbul (Turkey) and the Center for Magnesium Education & Research (USA) at the University of Göttingen.
This event will be the first international symposium to be hosted by the Institute, which was founded in November 2011. As an interface between academia and commerce, the IAPN has set itself the task of addressing current issues arising in practice, bundling existing knowledge and passing on new findings to agricultural practice.
The IAPN is undergoing a phase of development. This April, Professor Dr. Klaus Dittert took over the scientific management of the IAPN. Heading the Institute is among the responsibilities exercised by Dr. Klaus Dittert as Head of the Section for Plant Nutrition and Crop Physiology in the Department of Crop Sciences at the Georg-August University Göttingen. At present, the process for appointing the junior professorship at the IAPN is under way, while the notices of vacancies for a doctoral student and a technical assistant will follow.
