Kassel regional council today granted K+S KALI GmbH approval for the discharge of saline wastewater into the Werra for a further eight years, until 31 December 2020. The new permit is based on the discharge volumes applied for by K+S, but it specifies a step-by-step plan as of December 2015 to reduce the currently valid threshold values. more

Today’s topping-out ceremony at the Unterbreizbach location of the Werra works celebrated the completion of the comprehensive steel construction works. The significantly expanded factory building now offers ample space for a new plant for cold preliminary decomposition (CPD), which will be an essential component of the extensive package of water protection measures K+S will implement. The objective is to totally recover the process wastewaters generated at Unterbreizbach, so that in future direct wastewater discharge or injection will no longer be necessary. more
