Today Volker Bouffier, Minister President of Hesse, visited the Werra Verbund plant to get informed about the current economic situation of the potash district and, at the same time, praised the efforts made by the company to make production even more environmentally friendly by using the latest technology. A focal point was progress on conducting a new kainite crystallization and flotation facility (KCF) to further reduce wastewater. more

In connection with the shutting down and long-term securing of a VNG Gasspeicher GmbH (VGS) gas cavern, K+S KALI GmbH has started to transport saturated saline water from potash production at the Werra plant to Bernburg. The appropriate permit has now been issued by the Saxony-Anhalt State Authority for Geology and Mining. more

Smoldering Fire at Herfa-Neurode Underground Waste Disposal Plant Extinguished

On January 13, 2017, a storage chamber at the Herfa-Neurode underground waste disposal plant in which a smoldering fire had broken out was opened by the Hattorf-Wintershall mine rescue team accompanied by representatives of the Kassel Regional Council as well as of the Central Office of the Mine Rescue Service in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. It was found that the fire had extinguished itself. more

Werra plant: Hattorf site resumes production

After the repairs completed in December following the fire damage in the factory, and after being granted a deep-well injection approval, the Hattorf site of the Werra plant started up again yesterday and has today resumed full production until further notice. more
