Werra

The “Werra” area has been in operation since 1997, and was originally created by joining the previously independent works Hattorf, Wintershall, Unterbreizbach and Merkers. For approximately 100 years these sites have separately mined potash salts and have processed them into high quality products. Although the Merkers mining site has been transformed into an “Adventure Mine”, visited by the general public, potash salts are still actively mined at the Hattorf, Wintershall and Unterbreizbach sites.
