Even though no crude salt has been mined at the site since 1994, it is still an important component of the “specialty strategy” within K+S KALI GmbH’s. Its core competences are logistics, as well as process and product development. A granulation laboratory is available on-site for this development work .

Because of the facility’s central location its flexibility in terms of logistics and traffic connections is unprecedented. It is situated close to the Nether Saxon north/south and east/west rail and road junctions and has its own inland canal with dock. The works offers a range of services particularly for regional fertiliser sales.
With approximately 150 employees, the Bergmannssegen-Hugo works is one of the most important regional employers. Potassium and magnesium production significantly contributes to the region’s economy. This facility regularly award contracts to regional sub-contactors and service providers, thereby creating an economic base for a large number of regional jobs. The site is also committed to supporting social institutions, associations and clubs.
