Production Processes

All our raw rock salts, mined underground, derive from the evaporation of ancient salty ocean water and show a variety of mineral compositions, influenced by their place of deposit. Fine grinding and processing by hot water solution, flotation or an electrostatic separation process (ESTA®-Process) are completed above-ground The separation and manufacturing process is selected in accordance with the raw salt’s composition and the final product to be achieved. These processes may also be combined.

Hot dissolution process

Hot dissolution process

The hot dissolution process is based on dissolution behaviour dependent on different temperatures. While rock salt dissolves in water equally well irrespective of its temperature, the solubility of potassium chloride increases, as the temperature rises... more

Flotation process

Flotation process

The flotation process is meanwhile used at all production locations to separate potash and Kieserite from the dissolution residue... more

ESTA-process

ESTA®-process

This separation process, which is carried out without salt solutions or a high consumption of energy, is based on a phenomenon that can also be observed in daily life. If two substances are rubbed together under certain physical conditions, they can attract contrary electric charges... more
