The certified KaSa®-products of the K+S KALI GmbH are perfectly suited for feeding a great variety of farm and domestic animals.
The nutrients potassium, chloride, magnesium and sulphur, all of which are contained in the KaSa®- products, have important functions in the animals’ bodies. In connection with sodium, potassium is important for stimulus conduction in the muscle fibres and the electric polarisation of the nervous membranes. Additionally, potash serves to maintain the membrane potential at the cell wall and osmotic pressure in the cells. With sodium as its antagonist, potassium activates enzymes in the carbohydrate and fat metabolism.
Magnesium is an essential component of animal bones and teeth, and plays an important role in the activation of enzymes. It is also vital for nerve excitability and muscle contraction, which is why a lack of magnesium is an animal stressor, inducing cramps, interrupted nervous communication and decreased intake of feedingstuffs. In combination with the intake of potassium-rich plant growth, a magnesium deficiency may lead to grass tetany in ruminants.
In animals, sulphur is mainly found in the amino acids methionine, cysteine and cystine, and therefore has an important role in an optimal protein supply.
