The SSDEI is a representative body of the European extractive industry’s employers’ organisation, as well as representing the European Mining, Chemistry and Energy Industry Union. It functions as an advisory committee to the EU-commission, for mining-specific issues, and among other activities, facilitates the dialogue with EU-parliamentarians.
This year, the committee will primarily work on questions related to work safety, environmental protection and education for those involved in the European extractive industry. As president, Burkhard Schulze will be in charge of heading the social dialogue’s four meetings during his one-year term. He is expected to shape and influence the organisation’s agenda, as well as taking on representative tasks.
In his activities he will be supported by two K+S-colleagues: Dr. Ines Strackenbrock (responsible for European Affairs in the sectors of Environmental Protection, Work Safety and Quality Management) and by Friedhelm Mester (head of Marketing-project/Trade Policy of the K+S KALI GmbH).
